Brought to you by the American Bonsai Society and Discover Potters, the North American Bonsai Pottery Competition is a premier international juried bonsai ceramics exhibition first presented at the 2025 ABS Learning Seminars in association with the 9th National Bonsai Exhibition in Rochester, New York.
On the 10 year anniversary since the 3rd National Juried Bonsai Pot Exhibition, last held in 2015 in Washington, D.C., this exhibition and competition aims to celebrate the diversity of bonsai pottery in North America by showcasing the beauty, craftsmanship, and functionality of bonsai pottery, while encouraging the growth and development of the art of bonsai containers. Our goal is to highlight the finest examples of North American bonsai pottery and connect the broader bonsai community with the best artists across the continent.

The North American Bonsai Pottery Competition & The Trophy
This partnership, made possible through the generous support of the European Bonsai Potter Collective, represents a momentous step forward for our global bonsai community. Two continents—each with its own proud traditions of craftsmanship and artistry—will unite in a shared celebration of excellence in bonsai pottery.
Beginning with forthcoming events, each exhibition will proudly feature the winning pots from its partner, allowing artists from North America and Europe alike to have their work showcased before an international audience. Through this exchange, the finest examples of bonsai pottery will cross oceans and cultures, inspiring new connections, collaborations, and creative horizons.
This partnership celebrates the spirit of friendship, artistry, and mutual support between the North American and European bonsai communities. We hope it will inspire continued collaboration and help our shared passion for bonsai flourish across borders.
