S H O H I N Traditional Unglazed BROOK SLOBODIEN
FLASHPOINT CRAFT Ohio, USA 2025 2 x 7 x 7 inches Fine Dark Brown Stoneware Wheel Thrown and Trimmed in One Piece Fired to Cone 5 (2167ºF) "Shohin-sized bonsai pot thrown and trimmed on the potter's wheel. This piece is made of unglazed dark brown stoneware with a fine groggy surface. The individual feet are carved from an integral foot-ring trimmed on the wheel. The underside of the pot features a band of chattered texture as well as channels carved into the body of the piece to hide the tie-down wires from even the most eagle-eyed viewer. The feet are polished as to not scratch any surface it is placed upon."

"My work embodies traditional shapes and processes interwoven with contemporary techniques and equipment. The world of bonsai and the pots that encompass them is a fountain of inspiration that I only find myself drawn to more and more. Clay is the most wonderful material in which to accentuate nature, as it came from the earth just as the tree it cradles. I design pots that one might see on the set of a science fiction epic, or a future civilization while also staying true to time-honored silhouettes and stances." - Brook
