Rhode Island, USA 2024 14 x 9 x 3 inches Coarsely Grogged Brick Clay Single Slab, No Seam Wood Fired to Cone 9 (2300ºF) "After traveling to Alaska I was so inspired by the space and the rawness of the landscape. The piece is formed spontaneously, one big slab, creating the beginnings of the form. as this very rough clay body begins to set up I compress and create the rim. It reminds me of the deckled edge in paper making. Wood fired to cone 9 with a copper manganese stain."

I have been a ceramic artist for 50 years now, and I am finally able to make a proper bonsai pot. I want my work to express a playful geometry. Letting the fire, clay and glaze interact and enhance its eventual tree. The framing and functionality are the challenge. The architecture of a vessel creates opportunities for expression.
