As the art of bonsai evolves, so too must its containers, pushing the boundaries of what a bonsai pot can be. Sponsored by Cosmic Bonsai, this category invites artists to explore the exciting intersection of creativity and functionality, where imagination meets the evolving artistry of bonsai design. It’s about pushing the aesthetic boundaries, while understanding the essential role of the bonsai container in supporting tree health and development. The "Cosmic Creations" theme encourages bold experimentation, spotlighting innovative designs that challenge conventional limits. Here, anything is possible—exploring unconventional shapes, durable materials, or techniques. This category celebrates innovation, imagination and tells a unique story where the container and tree coexist in a harmonious composition.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to design a bonsai container for a cosmic, avant-garde, or non-traditional style bonsai. The challenge is to create a vessel that reflects the spirit of future exploration—one that merges Earth’s timeless beauty with the possibilities of tomorrow.
Imagine a world where humanity’s reach extends beyond our planet, where bonsai trees are cultivated in places that were once unimaginable. Your container should evoke the frontier of space exploration, yet still honor the organic, rooted connection to Earth. It’s a symbol of life flourishing in the face of new frontiers—whether on a distant colony, or here on Earth, as we prepare for what lies ahead.
Tell us your story of a future composition, where nature and innovation work in harmony to create a bonsai that thrives in the exploration of new horizons.
Examples of pots in this category include, but are not limited to: sculptural, architectural, slab, cement, mixed-material, 3D printed, and those with experimental shapes, glazes, and themes such as outer space, science fiction, abstraction, and more.
Potters are welcome to submit concept artwork that depicts their work in a completed bonsai composition.
