Maryland, USA 2025 3.75 x 8 x 4 inches Commercial White Stoneware, Coarse Grog, Slip, Washes Slab Built Gas Fired to Cone 11 "A parallelogram shaped pot with trapezoid and overlapping sides, exposed seams, extended bottom edge, slab strip feet and multiple drainage and wiring holes.
This pot draws inspiration from geometry, architecture and the monumental presence of Richard Serra’s sculpture. Its form is stark and structured, while the surface created by exposing coarse grog and layering slips and oxide washes, evokes the raw texture of aged concrete. The finish resembles a neglected garden retainer wall, weathered by time, stained with dirt, grit, and memory. It speaks of overlooked spaces and the quiet beauty found there. I want this pot to challenge the bonsai artist to consider not just the aesthetics of harmony, but the tension between decay and growth, structure and nature. It asks: what story does your tree tell when rooted in a vessel that has a history of its own? Let the pot and tree shape each other’s narrative." - Kit Ruseau |

A B O U T K I T R U S E A U
I’ve been working with clay for over 30 years. My first bonsai pots were entered in the 2015 Third National Bonsai Exhibition and won awards. Since then, I’ve focused on crafting unique pots that honor the tree and act as a quiet partner in the living art of bonsai.
