Maryland, USA 2025 6.5 x 5.5 x 5.4 inches Studio Reclaimed Clay Slab Built Wood Fired to Cone 11 "This bonsai pot was constructed from firm slabs of reclaimed studio clay. Twenty-six parts were assembled using mitered and butt joints to create a square pot supported by long columnal legs. Slab-built and wood-fired, the pot is unglazed, allowing the natural drama of the wood kilns ash, and flame to leave their unpredictable marks, creating a surface of earthy warmth and subtle variation.
Inspired by the quiet architecture of a recessed entryway, the pot suggests shelter and depth. I envision it paired with a semi-cascade bonsai or a kusamono planting, compositions that echo the pots interplay of presence and negative space." - Kit Ruseau |

A B O U T K I T R U S E A U
I’ve been working with clay for over 30 years. My first bonsai pots were entered in the 2015 Third National Bonsai Exhibition and won awards. Since then, I’ve focused on crafting unique pots that honor the tree and act as a quiet partner in the living art of bonsai.
