Traditional Glazed MARK COOK
POTTERY CAT Wisconsin, USA 2025 3.88 x 8.25 x 2.25 inches Paoli Grolleg Porcelain, Glazed Slab Built, Salt Fired, Cone 10 "This distorted, slab built fan pot stretched my creativity. The template is of my own creation. The exaggerated arch, flared corners and clean lines lend an air of balance, like a suspension bridge. The dimensions of the pot are variable: 9 inches long and 8.25 inches wide at the longest points. Depth ranges from 2.25 inches in the middle to 3.25 inches on either end. The drain holes have been placed to accentuate drainage and the tie down holes are grooved to help hide wires and improve the negative space beneath the pot. The “feet” were purposely designed to be integrated with the bottom and sides of the pot and were polished to provide stability. This would make a great home to a small forest or even a partial cascade."

A B O U T M A R K C O O K
I started throwing pots on the wheel 5+ years ago for physical therapy so I could regain the use of my right hand. I developed an interest in creating bonsai pots when a friend asked me to make one for him and I just launched from there.
Over the course of the last three years I’ve concentrated on developing a recognizable style along with being more consistent with my technical skills. I have branched into slab building and combined forms so I can offer a wider of variety of designs. I have also developed a deep interest in atmospheric firing and glaze recipe formulation. I hope at this stage people are enjoying and appreciating my efforts as much as I enjoy sharing my creativity.
