Penjing Bonsai Garden

2019

A gift to Gary and Nina of Penjing Bonsai Garden. This painting features Gary's black olive bonsai, which can be seen at his nursery. Their dog Tiger, always curious, observing the koi fish in the river. To the left side are the mountains of China. The bridge symbolizes the connection they have between China and their current home in Florida. Two sandhill cranes, cranes often seen in this part of Florida, are flying over the bridge from the right side. The sun peeking behind the bridge leads the viewer to view this painting at night. With a blacklight, the pinks and purples of twilight shine through. At dark, the lantern is lit and the stars are fully out and a comet can be seen in the night sky.

12x10 inch acrylic on canvas sealed with water based polyurethane.
