Traditional Glazed PITOON EKARINTARAGUN
PIT-EKA Maryland, USA 2024 3 x 7 x 2.25 inches Stoneware Clay, Glazed Wheel Thrown, Hand Built Fired to Cone 6 "This bonsai container was crafted using Standard Cone 6 stoneware clay. This container was thrown on a potter’s wheel and left on the bat to dry to a leather hard state, then trimmed and refined. Each foot was cut by hand and attached using clay slip. While the construction process took several hours, the complete firing and glazing cycle extended over a week. The piece was fired in a digitally controlled kiln using a pre-programmed medium-speed schedule, specifically to this clay body for optimal results.
The intent behind this container was to serve a dual purpose: to function as a refined bonsai vessel or to stand alone as a display piece. I believe this was achieved through careful attention to proportion, with a harmonious relationship between height and width, a thoughtfully chosen foot style, and a glaze that enhances the overall aesthetic. As in bonsai, visual harmony relies on well-balanced proportions, each element of this container was designed to complement the whole." - Pitoon Ekarintaragun |
