Traditional Glazed PITOON EKARINTARAGUN
PIT-EKA Maryland, USA 2024 2 x 3 x 1.5 inches Stoneware Clay, Glazed Wheel Thrown, Hand Built Fired to Cone 6 "This bonsai container was crafted using Standard Cone 6 stoneware clay. This container was thrown on a potter’s wheel and left on the bat to dry to a leather hard state, then trimmed and refined. The foot in an integral part of the container. While the construction process took several hours, the complete firing and glazing cycle extended over a week.
The piece was fired in a digitally controlled kiln using a pre-programmed medium-speed schedule, specifically to this clay body for optimal results. Due to its small size, achieving an even and aesthetically pleasing glaze application presents a unique challenge. My identity is immediately evident upon viewing and handling my work, as each piece reflects a distinctive and recognizable style. This container is no exception. The dedication to craftsmanship and subtle refinement aligns closely with the Japanese approach to the art of bonsai, where harmony, balance, and attention to the smallest details are paramount." - Pitoon Ekarintaragun |
